On Easter Monday, the rich programme of events organised by the Municipality of Paralimni - Deryneia in the framework of the Festival of Traditional Culture "Voices and Memories" from 9th to 30th April 2025 continued with the revival of Easter customs under the auspices of the Deputy Ministry of Culture.
Dancers and musicians took the audience on a journey in the footsteps of Paralimnian history and tradition, reviving the forgotten custom of the "Traullaris" who used to roam the neighbourhoods of Paralimni on the days of Labri, asking for red eggs and flounces which they then sold to pay the orchestra at the feast they were setting up.
The events were organized in the context of the Panarco of St. George which is inscribed on the UNESCO National List of Intangible Cultural Heritage.
The program began with a patinade in the main streets of the city with the dancers of the Cultural Workshop "Para ti Limni", who then took the audience on a journey to the Cypriot and Greek area with an excellent music and dance performance together with the traditional band "Nomades".
The festival was attended by the ensembles of the Metropolitan Church of St. George, the Paralimni Youth Council and the Paralimni Youth Union Volleyball Academies.
In his address, the Mayor of Paralimni - Deryneia thanked and congratulated all participants who, as he said, contribute substantially to the preservation and dissemination of the traditional identity of the region and our country.
In the area there was an exhibition of Traditional Crafts with Ppalouse, Basketry, Traditional Chair Binding, Woodcarving, Weaving, Fishmongery (paneri) and chisel while the traditional "Lampreys of Lambris" were revived with offto kleftiko and doughnuts.
In the early afternoon, traditional games were held in the courtyard of the Metropolitan Church of St. George.
The events take place in the framework of the Festival of Traditional Culture "Voices and Memories" organized by the Municipality of Paralimnios - Derynia in cooperation with the Cultural Academy of Agios Epiphanios from 9 to 30 April 2025. Entrance to all events of the Festival is free of charge.

Entrance to the exhibition is free of charge (Monday - Saturday 09:00-13:00) and will remain open until 30 November 2025.
