What would you like to see in Paralimni Lake?
Paralimni Youth invites us to an open discussion where we can share our ideas and proposals for the future of our lake. Together we can make the Lake a benchmark for our community and future generations. To create a place of life, knowledge and respect for our natural environment.
Lake Paralimni is a unique natural treasure.
It is home to rare and impressive birds such as the Phoenicopterus roseus, the Cinderella (Ardea cinerea), the Fishcock (Plegadis falcinellus) and the Water Hen (Porzana porzana).
It is also noteworthy that the rare endemic water snake of Cyprus, Natrix natrix cypriaca, lives here - a unique subspecies that has been recorded almost exclusively in the area of the lake.
Protecting and enhancing this ecosystem is everyone's responsibility. Various voluntary groups and environmental organisations are working to preserve this beauty - now is the time to get involved.
