Paralimni

“Come to Saint George’s courtyard, boys and girls,
to play, to learn, with great joy…”

Saturday, April 4, 2026
10:00 a.m. – 4:00 p.m.
Courtyard of the Metropolitan Church of St. George, Paralimni
Admission is free

On Saturday, April 4, the courtyard of the Metropolitan Church of St. George in Paralimni will be transformed into a vibrant space for tradition, creativity, and intergenerational connection.

People of all ages will have the opportunity to play, learn, and share experiences that keep our cultural identity alive.

From 10:00 a.m. to 2:00 p.m., there will be 12 hands-on workshops and a Human Library, where visitors can make crafts, discover traditional musical instruments, try their hand at writing their own tsia-tsia songs, and listen to stories of the village from people who carry memories and experiences from another era.

The program will then continue with a break for food and drinks, giving everyone a chance to relax and enjoy the venue. Throughout the event, the traditional “kafenes” will be open, where young and old alike can play a friendly game of backgammon and enjoy Cypriot coffee in a traditional pot, homemade lemonade, and spoon sweets, while food stands will also be available.

After the break, there will be brief speeches followed by the award ceremony for the student drawing and painting contest.

“Paralimni Then and Now,” featuring entries from elementary and middle schools in the Municipality of Paralimni–Deryneia. Three prizes will be awarded in each category, and there will also be a public vote to select the “People’s Choice Winner.”

The aim of the event is to preserve and promote the traditions and customs of our region and to bridge the gap between the past and the present.

The event is being held as part of the “Voices and Memories” Festival organized by the Municipality of Paralimni–Deryneia, with the Paralimni Youth Association serving as the organizer.
