THE STRUGGLE OF THE STOICISMS
The Struggle of the Styles, by Yannis Laoutaris and Giorgos Papaconstantinou
ARTrat Collective presents the musical performance "The struggle of the stoicisms", a composition by composer Yannis Laoutaris, inspired by the prose of the same name by the poet and writer Giorgos Papakonstantinou, which is included in the publication "Cypriot Prose Writings".
A stirring of the heavens was enough to reveal a fierce struggle. The things that define the chrysalis of men have taken up positions of battle. Each one to be the victor.
A play dedicated to love and the interference of inevitable death. Do we study love or do we experience it? And if we don't study it, how do we experience it? And if we experience it, do we have the ability to revive it? Do we get swept away in a wild river rushing by and beating us against the trunks of trees and large stones, breaking our bones?
Are you making a dive into deep waters that only with deep awareness of breathing - calmness - decompression - facing fear - and always with respect can you achieve it without at least ending up fainting?
Otherwise you may drown and lose consciousness; but who knows if you are still feeling?

The Municipality of Paralimniu-Derynia is organizing a Music Festival from 17 to 21 September 2025, in all its municipal districts, with the participation of leading Cypriot artists.
On 18 September we commemorate the memory of Ilias Kouloumis, one of the most important folk musicians and singers of Cyprus. Elias Kouloumis was a tireless and tireless worker of the Cypriot musical tradition who dedicated his life to the preservation and dissemination of our folk culture. Through his rich work he managed to preserve valuable material, such as recordings of older musicians, stories, records and songs, but also to record with his voice and his lute a significant number of traditional Cypriot songs.
