The Municipality of Paralimniu - Deryneia is following with particular concern the incident of an attack against a fellow citizen in a restaurant in the area.

On the one hand, the Municipality clarifies that this is an isolated incident, which in no way characterizes our peaceful and safe tourist area.

On the other hand, the Municipality calls on all the institutional powers of the state - Executive, Legislative and Judicial - to exhaust all means to combat similar incidents. Of particular concern is the fact that individuals with what appears to be a history of delinquent behaviour are circulating around causing unimpeded disruption to the life of our society and manifesting acts of violence.

This attack, apart from the risk to the life of our fellow citizen - for whom the Municipality declares itself ready to assist by any means - constitutes an insult to the image of our tourist region internationally.

Therefore, the Municipality of Paralimni - Deryneia calls on the state to assume its full responsibility for the safety of both citizens and visitors, applying with all strictness the applicable laws. Finally, the Municipality expresses its thanks to the Famagusta Police Directorate for the immediate intervention for the identification and arrest of the perpetrator.
