With a special musical collaboration featuring the distinguished musician and composer Socrates Sinopoulos, titled “The Lyre Meets Cyprus,” the curtain rose on Sunday, March 29, 2026, for the 2nd Festival of Traditional Culture of the Municipality of Paralimni – Deryneia “Voices and Memories,” which runs from March 29 through April 25, 2026.
The musical gathering took place with the utmost respect for the sacred space of the old church of Agios Georgios in Paralimni, which serves as the festival’s central theme. The event aims to highlight the traditions and customs of Paralimni associated with the Easter season and the feast of the city’s patron saint, Saint George.
Joining Socrates Sinopoulos were musicians Kyriakos Markoullis, Michalis Kouloumis, and Christos Isidorou, offering the audience a unique musical experience.
As part of the festival, Socrates Sinopoulos also led a musical improvisation workshop for professional musicians. The 2nd Festival of Traditional Culture “Voices and Memories” is organized by the Municipality of Paralimni – Deryneia in collaboration with the “Agios Epifanios” Cultural Academy and is held under the auspices of the Deputy Ministry of Culture.
