The first day of the 4th Conference “Paralimni – History and Culture,” organized by the Municipality of Paralimni–Deryneia, bringing together scientists, researchers, and scholars of the region’s history, archaeology, and folklore. The conference, which has now become an institution, aims to document, study, and highlight the rich historical and cultural heritage of Paralimni and the wider region.
On the first day of the conference, presentations were given under three main thematic categories: Ancient History, Modern History (1974), and Folklore.
As part of the opening day’s events, greetings were delivered by the Mayor of Paralimni–Deryneia, Mr. George Nikoletos, the Chief Secretary of the Holy Metropolis of Constantia and Famagusta on behalf of the Metropolitan, and the Inspector of Secondary Education, Angelos Chrysostomou, on behalf of the Minister of Education, under whose auspices the conference was held, while tribute was also paid to Professor George Georgis and the late Spartiatis Nikoletos, in recognition of their contribution to the historical and intellectual life of the region.

The second part of the conference will take place on Sunday, March 22, 2026.
