The first day of the 4th Conference “Paralimni – History and Culture,” organized by the Municipality of Paralimni–Deryneia, bringing together scientists, researchers, and scholars of the region’s history, archaeology, and folklore. The conference, which has now become an institution, aims to document, study, and highlight the rich historical and cultural heritage of Paralimni and the wider region.
On the first day of the conference, presentations were given under three main thematic categories: Ancient History, Modern History (1974), and Folklore.
As part of the opening day’s events, greetings were delivered by the Mayor of Paralimni–Deryneia, Mr. George Nikoletos, the Chief Secretary of the Holy Metropolis of Constantia and Famagusta on behalf of the Metropolitan, and the Inspector of Secondary Education, Angelos Chrysostomou, on behalf of the Minister of Education, under whose auspices the conference was held, while tribute was also paid to Professor George Georgis and the late Spartiatis Nikoletos, in recognition of their contribution to the historical and intellectual life of the region.

- “Social Life in Paralimni in 1974,” Andreas Evangelou, Assistant Commissioner of the Cyprus Agricultural Payments Organization, former Mayor of Paralimni, Economist, and Andreas Oikonomou, Architect, former Deputy Mayor of Paralimni
- “Secondary Education in Paralimni during the 1974–1975 School Year,” by Irini Skitsa Hatzigathangelou, Philologist, former Assistant Principal of Secondary Schools
- “The Iconography of Saint George in Paralimni,” Dr. Christodoulos Hatzichristodoulou, Curator of the Bank of Cyprus Cultural Foundation
- “St. George and the Resurrection,” Dr. Christina Kakoura, Director of the “St. Epiphanius” Cultural Academy, Holy Metropolis of Constantia and Famagusta
- “Folk Traditions Concerning Saint George in Cyprus and Paralimni,” Kostis Kokkinoftas, Director of the Research Center of the Holy Monastery of Kykkos
- “The Saltworks and the Orchard of Agios Georgios,” Sergios Sergiou-Kerkoullas, Merchant Marine Captain, and Giorgos Sergiou Kerkoullas, sailor
