The Folklore Museum of Derynia is housed in an old traditional house at 2 Dimitris Lipertis Street, which was donated by the couple Varnavas and Margarita Hadjiliasis in memory of their three children who died at a young age. The building was declared a listed building and was renovated by the Municipality under the supervision of the Department of Urban Planning and Zoning.

The design of the interior and exterior spaces of the Folklore Museum as well as the exhibitions of the various items of household equipment and agricultural tools have been made with the cooperation of the Cyprus Handicraft Service and represent as faithfully as possible their functionality in the traditional Cypriot home.
