The Municipality of Paralimni-Deryneia has announced a competition for the creation of a Memorial Site for the Pontian Genocide in the Municipal District of Paralimni.

The monument is the work of sculptor Giorgos Kikotis and will be unveiled by the Honorable President of the Republic of Cyprus on May 19, 2026, the anniversary of National Remembrance Day.

The design features a photorealistic rendering of the monument that will be installed on the site, having already been approved by the Monuments Committee, whom the Municipality thanks for their prompt response and cooperation. The site will be landscaped with the creation of a monumental/square area and tree planting.

The project is co-funded by the Republic of Cyprus and the Municipality of Paralimni-Deryneia.
