THE The Municipality of Paralimni-Dheryneia, in collaboration with the Ignite Foundation, participates in the European Interreg Euro-MED program “EcoMedIslands”, which promotes circular solutions and smart waste management on the islands of the Mediterranean. The Kick-off meeting was held in Gozo (Malta), during which we presented the waste collection method, as well as the procedures and practices followed by our Municipality to date. At the same time, we had the opportunity to exchange views with partners and coordinate the next steps.

During the peak tourism season, the volume of waste increases significantly and proper management is critical for public health, coastal and marine protection, the image of the Municipality and the visitor experience. With prevention, proper sorting and the use of data to optimize routes, we minimize problems, traffic congestion and costs, while increasing recycling and reuse with the participation of both citizens and businesses. The EcoMedIslands program supports these actions with modern practices and tools.
