With a concert of the Famagusta Traditional Music Orchestra on Wednesday, April 30, 2025 at 8 pm in the courtyard of the Holy Metropolis of Constantia and Famagusta, the Municipality of Paralimnii - Dherynia organizes the closing ceremony of the Traditional Culture Festival "Voices and Memories".
The Festival was organized by the Municipality of Paralimniu - Derynia in cooperation with the Cultural Academy of Agios Epiphanios from 9 to 30 April 2025 and was under the auspices of the Ministry of Culture.
Entrance is free.
The event, which is entitled "...On the terrace of St. George" because of the custom of singing the song of St. George on the terrace of the church, will feature the newly established Famagusta Traditional Music Orchestra, the first Orchestra of traditional Cypriot instruments that has been created, with thirty members and conducted by Michalis Kouloumis. The Cultural Workshop "Para ti Limni" is participating.
The first Festival, which was successful in terms of its organization, was a cycle of events aimed at establishing and reviving the history and tradition of Paralimnians and the customs associated with Agios Georgios. The two unique elements of Paralimni's cultural heritage that are inscribed on the UNESCO National List of Intangible Cultural Heritage, the "Paralimnite Voice" and the "Panaryn of St. George" were at the centre of the cycle of events, while the Easter customs were revived and highlighted through exhibitions and folklore events.
