The 29th National Religious Memorial of the heroic martyrs of Paralimni, Tasos Isaac and Solomos Solomos, who were murdered in August 1996 by the Turkish atrocities at the Deryneia barricade, was held today, Sunday, August 10, 2025, at the Holy Church of St Demetrios in Paralimni.
The Government was represented by the Deputy Minister of Migration and International Protection, Mr. Nicolas Ioannides, while the House of Representatives was represented by the Speaker, Mrs. Anita Demetriou.
The Mayor of Paralimniu - Derynia Mr. George Nicolettos delivered a memorial speech, who stressed that the sacrifice of Tasos Isaac and Solomos Solomos is an eternal symbol of freedom and dignity, reminding everyone of their duty to continue the struggle until the justification and the complete liberation of the homeland.
The memorial service was presided over by Bishop Gregory of Mesaoria, in the presence of numerous citizens, political officials, organized groups, student groups and the large procession of motorcyclists of the Isaac - Solomos Memorial Initiative.
Subsequently, a memorial service was held and wreaths were laid at the Paralimni cemetery, paying the due tribute to the heroes whose sacrifice raised the debt and honour of Hellenism.
