The Municipality of Paralimniu - Deryneia condemns in the most unequivocal way the illegal and much advertised construction of 1,192 luxury houses on the occupied land of Deryneia. Turkey and the pseudo-state, once again, prove that expansionism remains their only priority, with no regard for international law and human rights.

This illegal settlement development is proceeding on Greek Cypriot land, in an area that was drenched with the blood of innocent victims both during the brutal Turkish invasion of 1974 and in 1996, with the brutal murder of Tasos Isaac and Solomos Solomos.

The Municipality of Paralimnii - Deryneia hopes that this crime of Turkey will not go unpunished either. We expect the political world to support with unity and determination our demand, not only for the voracious expansionism in Deryneia, but also throughout our occupied land, in Famagusta, Kyrenia, Trikomo, Nicosia, Morphou, Karpasia and every corner of occupied Cyprus that has been groaning under occupation for half a century.

Our land is not being sold off or given away. Turkey's blatant violation of international law for the umpteenth time must not go unanswered or unpunished. The Municipality of Paralimniu - Deryneia expresses its readiness to assist in any action of the Government, which will aim to react and prevent this new provocative action.
