Cyprus Symphony Orchestra concert in Paralimni "The Carnival of the Animals"

On Friday 28 February 2025, the Cyprus Symphony Orchestra presented one of the most popular works of classical music for children, "The Carnival of the Animals" by French composer Camille Saint-Saens, conducted by Andreas Asiekki, at the Xenion Amphitheatre in Paralimni.

The concert was held in cooperation with the Music Inspection Office of the Secondary General Education of the Ministry of Education, Sports and Youth (YPAN) and was sponsored by the Municipality of Paralimnii - Deryneia.

It was extremely important that the solo piano parts in the Carnival of Animals were performed by young pianists from the Famagusta Music School. Specifically from the Music School of Famagusta participated: Solo Piano: Anastasia Christodoulou, Rate Karagiannis, Giorgos Misis and Maria Panagi. Teachers: Dr. Nicolas Constantinou and Maria Stylianou-Rousou. Violin: Chrysostomos Messiou, Giorgos Messiou and Andreas Anglogallou. Professor: Viki Hatziandreou

The programme was completed by two other equally popular works: the elegant and dramatic first movement from Wolfgang Amadeus Mozart's Symphony No.40 and the bright and energetic "Spring" from Antonio Vivaldi's Four Seasons.

The concert was dedicated to Kyprianos Papaioannou and a minute of silence was observed in memory of all the victims of Tempi.
