GENERAL INFORMATION

Nighttime Foot Parade (Saturday, February 21, 2026)

1. The Nighttime Foot Parade will take place on Saturday, February 21, 2026, at 8:00 p.m., starting at Griva Digeni Street and ending at Agios Georgios Square, where a party will be held.
2. During the night foot parade no floats participate but only pedestrians with a free theme.
3. There will be loudspeakers along the street so that the music can be heard better.
4. Participants are responsible for their own safety and that of persons they accompany.
5. Participants are obliged to follow the instructions of the organisers and the officials of the Municipality of Paralimni - Deryneia.

Carnival Parade (Sunday, February 22, 2026)

1. The Carnival Parade starts at 14:00 from the 2nd Primary School of Paralimni and ends at the junction of Agios Georgios, Archbishop Makarios III and Grivas Digenis streets.
2. The gathering of the teams will take place at the B' Primary School of Paralimni and there will be a specific place for the parking of each team with the appropriate number of appearances.
3. The floats must be in place by 10:00 a.m. at the latest.
4. Hiking groups must be at the site by 12:00 noon at the latest. At 12:00 noon, the roads will be closed and participants will be responsible for their own transportation to the site.
5. Teams should be assembled at the starting area to make it easier for the organisers to give the starting instructions.
6. There will be an ambulance in the parking lot next to the Municipal Hall of Paralimni-Deryneia, first aid members in the courtyard of the 2nd Primary School, as well as members of the Civil Defense who will be present as first aid crews.
7. It is recommended that participants bring water with them.
8. Children must be supervised by their parents/guardians or an authorised representative of the group in which they are participating.
9. No specific song is given to each set. All songs are in carnival rhythms (beats).
10. There will be no pronunciation for each set as it passes in front of the officials. The announcer will call out the names of the ensembles in the parade at the beginning.
11. The floats and teams must start as soon as indicated by the parade coordinator.
12. There will be no sponsorship of carnival floats or any other kind of subsidy to the organisers.
13. The order of appearance and ranking of the groups is determined by the Coordinator and/or the Organizing Committee of the Famagusta Carnival, and whenever deemed necessary, they have the authority to conduct a draw to determine the order.
14. After the parade the carnivalists can enter through a special route to St. George Square where the party will continue.

OBLIGATIONS/PROHIBITIONS/PENALTIES

Obligations

1. It is understood that by registering, teams must comply with the terms, conditions and obligations set by the organisers.
2. Teams must participate with the topic they have submitted a declaration for.
3. Participants must participate in the appropriate uniform as defined by the group theme.
4. Participants are obliged to show the Organizing Committee the carnival costume with which they will participate and the float.
5. Participants are obliged to inform the Organizing Committee with the name and contact details of the person in charge as well as the name and contact details of the driver who must be an adult and have a corresponding Driving Licence for the vehicle he/she will be driving.
6. The Organizing Committee is not responsible for duplicate topics/names.
7. The order of participation as determined by the organizing committee must be respected.
8. Chariot drivers must maintain a very low speed and ensure the safety of pedestrians and the public. The operation and safety of the chariot is the sole responsibility of the operator/driver and the team coordinator.
9. In the case of persons on a float, their safety is the sole responsibility of the float operator/driver and the team coordinator.
10. Safe movement to and from the parade area is the sole responsibility of the team coordinator, while in the case of minors, the parents and guardians or an authorized person of the team are responsible.
11. The safe movement of the float to and from the parade area is the sole responsibility of the operator / driver who is obliged to observe the Road Traffic Code, not to obstruct traffic and not to cause danger to passing vehicles and passers-by. In the case of large vehicles, it is recommended that the police be informed in advance and that they be moved during low traffic hours (early morning hours).
12. The chariots are obliged to keep the distance indicated to them, i.e. in no case more than fifteen metres from the leading group. Failure to do so may result in the team being cancelled and removed from the parade or prohibited from participating in the next parade.
13. The drivers of the vehicles after descending from St George Street must follow the route to Grivas Digenis Street and then to Tasou Markou Street where they must leave the traffic lights of the Kokkinos Supermarket. It is forbidden to cross the road from other points.
14. Participants are responsible for their own safety and that of persons they accompany.
15. Participants are obliged to follow the instructions of the organisers and the officials of the Municipality of Paralimni - Deryneia.
16. The buses that will pick up the participants should be parked either in the large parking area of the private school Xenion, or on Agios Dimitrios Street.

Prohibitions

1. The use of prohibited chemicals, smoke bombs, explosives, fireworks, firecrackers, or other dangerous devices or contraptions that may pose a risk to public health is expressly prohibited. In cases of non-compliance with the above, the organizing committee reserves the right to report specific incidents to the police.
2. Abusive slogans or inappropriate expressions and images on tanks and uniforms are prohibited.
3. The use of sprays and foams is prohibited.
4. The distribution of advertising or other leaflets is prohibited.
5. The display and listing of sponsors / advertisers is prohibited.
6. It is prohibited to display slogans of a political, fan or other nature that are likely to cause a reaction or offend specific social, political, cultural, ethnic, racial groups or characteristics of people.
7. It is forbidden for people from one group to enter another. Each group must march separately.
8. It is forbidden to stop the team during the parade. The distance between groups must not exceed twenty (20) meters.
9. Animals are not allowed in the parade.
10. Drivers of floats are prohibited from consuming alcohol and engaging in dangerous driving. In such cases, the organizing committee reserves the right to report specific incidents to the police.
11. Participants will not take any actions that may harm the smooth running of the carnival parade that endanger the health of citizens or alter the image of the city's institution.
12. Vehicles other than tanks are not allowed in the parking lot of the Second Elementary School.
13. The participation of agricultural tractors, or dangerous wheeled vehicles that may cause a traffic collision or endanger the safety of the operator and/or participants and/or spectators is prohibited.
14. It is forbidden to stop in front of the parade platform or at the finish line because it causes congestion. The floats must continue uninterrupted and the carnivalists must continue either to the party area or for their departure.
15. Mixing of groups with each other is prohibited.
16. It is forbidden for carnivalists to return from inside the parade route.
17. By submitting an entry, entrants acknowledge that they may not have a requirement for a particular order of appearance or any other requirement as to how they should appear.
18. Any failure to comply with the above will cause the cancellation of the participation of the cultural community in the institution.

Sanctions

1. In case of acts or omissions on the part of the representatives or members of the ensemble or in case of breach of the terms and conditions and commitments, the Organizing Committee of the Carnival and the Municipality of Paralimni - Deryneia reserve the right to impose the appropriate sanctions decided by the Organizing Committee of the Famagusta Carnival.
2. Sanctions shall be imposed on the recommendation of the Committee.
3. The sanctions are:
   • Reprimand of the whole.
   • Removal of the whole group from the following year or for as long as the Organizing Committee deems necessary.
   • If an ensemble commits the same offence repeatedly, it will be expelled from the Famagusta Carnival.

Management and processing of personal data

By submitting their application, participants acknowledge that the Municipality of Paralimni-Deryneia processes their personal data in accordance with Regulation (EU) 2016/679 (GDPR) and Law 125(I)/2018) for the purpose of reviewing their application to participate in the Carnival Parade. In accordance with the provisions of the Regulation, participants have the following rights: access, rectification, erasure, restriction, objection, portability, and the right to lodge a complaint with the Data Protection Commissioner. By submitting an entry, participants acknowledge that during the Carnival Parade there will be a professional photographer and that visualization and video recording will be carried out for promotion and promotion purposes in social media and mass media. They also acknowledge that the Carnival Parade will be broadcast live on a national television station and on social media.

General Information

Night Walking Parade (Saturday, February 21, 2026)

The Night Walking Parade will take place on Saturday, February 21, 2026, at 8:00 p.m., starting from Griva Digeni Street and ending at Saint George Square, where a party will follow.

No floats will take part in the night walking parade. Participation is limited to pedestrians with an open theme.

Loudspeakers will be installed along the route to ensure better sound coverage.

Participants are responsible for their own safety as well as for the safety of any persons accompanying them.

All participants must follow the instructions of the organizers and officials of the Municipality of Paralimni – Deryneia.

Carnival Parade (Sunday, February 22, 2026)

The Carnival Parade will commence at 14:00 from Paralimni B’ Primary School and will conclude at the junction of Agiou Georgiou Street, Archbishop Makarios III Avenue, and Griva Digeni Street.

Groups will gather at Paralimni B’ Primary School. A designated parking space will be assigned to each group according to its participation number.

Floats must be present at the venue no later than 10:00 a.m.

Walking groups must be present at the venue no later than 12:00 noon. Roads will close at 12:00 noon and access thereafter will be the responsibility of the participants.

Groups must remain gathered at the starting area to facilitate instructions from the organizers.

An ambulance will be stationed in the parking area next to the Paralimni – Deryneia Municipal Hall. First aid personnel will be present in the courtyard of Paralimni B’ Primary School, along with Civil Defense first aid teams.

Participants are advised to bring water.

Children must be under the supervision of their parents/guardians or an authorized representative of their group.

No specific song will be assigned to each group. All music will be carnival beat rhythms.

There will be no individual announcements as each group passes the officials' stand. The announcer will call out the names of the groups at the beginning of the parade.

Floats and groups must start immediately upon instruction from the parade coordinator.

No financial subsidy will be granted for carnival floats or to organizers.

The order of appearance and ranking of the groups is determined by the Coordinator and/or the Organizing Committee of the Famagusta Carnival. When deemed necessary, a draw may be conducted to determine the order.

After the parade, participants may enter Saint George Square via a designated route, where the party will continue.

OBLIGATIONS / PROHIBITIONS / SANCTIONS

Obligations

By submitting a participation form, groups agree to comply with the terms, conditions, and obligations set by the organizers.

Groups must participate under the theme declared in their application.

Participants must wear costumes consistent with the declared group theme.

Participants are required to present their costumes and floats to the Organizing Committee.

Groups must provide the full name and contact details of a responsible person, as well as the full name and contact details of the driver, who must be an adult holding the appropriate driving license for the vehicle operated.

The Organizing Committee bears no responsibility for duplicate themes or titles.

The established participation order must be strictly observed.

Float drivers must maintain very low speed and ensure the safety of pedestrians and spectators. Operation and safety of the float are the exclusive responsibility of the driver/operator and the group coordinator.

If individuals are on a float, their safety is the sole responsibility of the driver and the group coordinator.

Safe transport to and from the parade venue is the exclusive responsibility of the group coordinator. For minors, responsibility lies with parents/guardians or an authorized group representative.

The safe transport of floats to and from the parade venue is the exclusive responsibility of the driver, who must comply with the Road Traffic Code, avoid obstructing traffic and avoid endangering vehicles and pedestrians. For large floats, prior notification to the Police is recommended and transport should take place during low-traffic hours (early morning).

Floats must maintain the instructed distance, which must not exceed fifteen (15) meters from the preceding group. Failure to comply may result in cancellation or exclusion from current or future parades.

After going down Agiou Georgiou Street, float drivers should go to Griva Digeni Street and then to Tassou Markou Street, exiting at the traffic lights of Kokkinos Supermarket. Going through other routes is not allowed.

Participants are responsible for their own safety and that of accompanying persons.

Participants must follow the instructions of the organizers and municipal officials.

Buses collecting participants must park either at the large parking area of Xenion Private School or along Agiou Dimitriou Street.

Prohibitions

The use of prohibited chemical substances, smoke flares, explosives, fireworks, firecrackers, or any dangerous devices that may endanger public health is strictly forbidden. In case of non-compliance, the Organizing Committee reserves the right to report incidents to the Police.

Offensive slogans or indecent expressions and images on floats or costumes are prohibited.

Sprays and foam are not allowed.

The distribution of advertising or other leaflets is prohibited.

Display or mention of sponsors/advertisers is prohibited.

Political, partisan, or other slogans that may provoke reactions or offend social, political, cultural, national, or racial groups are prohibited.

Members of one group may not join another. Each group must parade separately.

Stopping during the parade is not allowed. The distance between groups must not exceed twenty (20) meters.

Animals are not permitted in the parade.

Drinking alcohol while driving a float and dangerous driving are not allowed. You can report incidents to the police.

Participants must refrain from actions that could disrupt the smooth conduct of the parade, endanger public health, or damage the institution's image.

Vehicles other than floats are not allowed to enter the parking area of Paralimni B’ Primary School.

Agricultural tractors or dangerous wheeled vehicles that may cause accidents or endanger safety are prohibited.

Stopping in front of the parade stand or at the finishing point is not allowed. Floats must keep going without stopping, and participants must either go to the party area or leave.

Mixing of groups is prohibited.

Participants may not return via the parade route.

By submitting their participation, participants acknowledge that they cannot claim a specific order of appearance or other demands regarding presentation.

Failure to comply with the above may result in cancellation of participation.

Sanctions

In cases of actions or omissions by representatives or members of a group, or breach of terms and commitments, the Organizing Committee of the Carnival and the Municipality of Paralimni – Deryneia reserve the right to impose appropriate sanctions as determined by the Organizing Committee of the Famagusta Carnival.

Sanctions are imposed following a committee recommendation and may include:

• Reprimand of the group.
• Exclusion of the group for the following year or for a period determined by the Organizing Committee.
• Permanent exclusion from the Famagusta Carnival in cases of repeated violations.

Processing of Personal Data

By submitting their participation, participants acknowledge that the Municipality of Paralimni – Deryneia processes their personal data in accordance with Regulation (EU) 2016/679 (GDPR) and Law 125(I)/2018 for the purpose of examining applications for participation in the Carnival Parade.

Participants have the rights of access, rectification, erasure, restriction, objection, data portability, and the right to lodge a complaint with the Commissioner for Personal Data Protection.

By submitting participation, participants also acknowledge that during the Carnival Parade a professional photographer will be present and photography and video recording will take place for promotional purposes on social media and mass media. The parade will also be broadcast live on a nationwide television channel and via social media platforms.
